At this festive time of year, we often hear, “What do you want for Christmas?” Yet it also important to ask yourself, “What do you want in the new year?” And not just in terms of resolutions but in terms of envisioning in your mind’s eye what a truly stellar year will look like. If you’re not sure, here are three steps to help you craft the new year of your dreams:
1) Take time pondering, daydreaming and meditating. Rather than force ideas or goals, allow the answers to bubble up from your subconscious. Stay away from asking others’ opinions for you. Rather suspend your doubts and trust that you have the best answers. Don’t judge or downplay an idea or thought that seems different than what you’ve typically imagined for yourself. Believe anything is possible.
2) Get out of your regular routine. Go for a walk in a new part of town. Make new friends with a mastermind group. Visit a museum or take a trip. Expand your mind. See what is fun for you and take notes on ways you can enjoy work and life more in the new year. Designate a special note on your phone for the inspiration that comes to you.

3) Imagine it’s the end of 2018 and you’re looking back on a great year. Write down all your happy memories – What did you spend time doing? Who did you help or serve? What happened at work, at home, and in your life to make you feel so good about your year?
Don’t leave 2018 up to chance. You have within you, the inspiration and the wisdom to create your ideal year.
The time is now to live the life you’ve imagined. Wishing you all the best with following your dreams in the new year!
